CARE INSTRUCTIONS
care for
your wool shawl
Your new crow shawl is 100% handmade from finest merino wool.
In order to keep it in a good shape it needs to be treated with love. I hope the following instructions will be of help.
At home: When you are not wearing or displaying your shawl, fold it up and tuck it into in a soft bag or box.
For travel: Placing your shawl in a soft bag is recommended. It’s best to avoid too much agitation and contact with other items in your luggage to avoid lint balls (piling) of the wool and other materials such as fibers and debris from shedding into/integrating itself into your shawl, as this is the common nature of wool). This will help to prolong its shelf life.
If more pilling than is aesthetically desirable for you develop over time you can lay your shawl out flat on a table then very gently pick the pill balls out. Please note you need to be very careful not to tear the shawl.
If you spot a small stain and would like to get rid of it you can use soft-bristled toothbrush to gently brush away any debris then slightly dampen a clean cloth with cool water and gently wipe the surface to clean it.
However, if your CROWMAD shawl needs a bath keep in mind that wet felt is not as resilient as dry felt and must be handled with care.
Do not use a washing machine and do not use a tumble dryer. Doing so will destroy the shawl!
For the safest care HANDWASH your crow shawl in a lukewarm water using mild, color safe detergent or take it to experienced dry cleaner.
For handwashing, just submerge the shawl into luke water and gently work the soap in. Always wash your shawl separately. Be gentle so you don’t stretch it out. Once you are finished and rid of all soap, gently wring out in a towel then lay it flat, or hang it on a door to dry. Reshape if necessary.
Last but not least, it is completely normal for the new shawl to be rather stiff. It has never been used. Once you start wearing it, it will get softer, it just needs time.

care for
your silk shawl
Your shawl will arrive folded, in an elegant box. To get rid of the creases you can iron the shawl – preferably on its backside – using silk settings on the iron. Mind not to spray the shawl with water when ironing – it can destroy it.
You can hand wash your scarf at home or take it to the dry cleaners. To avoid damaging it never wash your silk scarf in washing machine. Hand wash only in cool water. Do not rub and never wring dry. It can cause the silk to chafe or wear down. Best will be to dry it flat, away from the sun.
Silk is very delicate fabric that needs to be treated with love, but when you do so it will serve you for decades.
